Obituary of Natalia Grauer

Natalia Grauer, born in Krakow, Poland  on February 16, 1929, passed away from COVID 19 on June 21, 2020 in St Petersburg, Florida.  She was 91 years young. As a child she survived the Ghetto of Krakow with her parents and 3 sisters. She was later caught and sent to concentration camps and forced labor camps. Natalia was liberated from a death march by the American army. She married her beloved Moishe (Mike) in a D P camp. They were determined to live in a Jewish land. After having been captured by the British and sent to Cyprus, they finally got to Palestine. They fought to establish Israel as an independent state and saw this dream come true.

Their wandering didn’t stop there. They lived in Germany and Australia before coming to New Jersey to reunite with her mother and three sisters. After retirement, they moved to Florida. 

 

Natalia was a founding member of Temple Ahavat Shalom. She was an active member of the St Petersburg Holocaust Museum speaker’s desks. She stressed that hate was the enemy and we should “Never Forget”.

 

Natalia was pre deceased by her parents, Wilhelm and Giselle Rosenwald her sister Hankah  Eisenstein and her husband, Moishe.

She is survived by her daughters, Sofia Yeashoua (Sami) and Marlene Zytcer (Sam) and her sons, William Grauer(Karen) and Sammy Grauer (Kim), six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and many loved family and friends. She will be in our hearts forever.

 

The care of Mrs. Grauer has been entrusted to David C. Gross Funeral Home in St. Petersburg.
