Obituary of Ann Mastry Kearney

Ann Mastry Kearney a life-long resident of St. Petersburg passed away Saturday June 23, 2007. She was 98 years young. Ann was born in Tampa, FL and graduated from St. Pete High School. For many years she was a realtor in this area. She was an Episcopalian and member of St. Peters Cathedral Church. Funeral services will be held Thursday June 28th, 2007 at 10:30 am at St. Peters Episcopal Cathedral, 140 4th Street North, St. Petersburg, with a celebration of her life at the St Petersburg Yacht Club immediately following the services. Burial will be at 3PM at Royal Palm Cemetery. She and her late husband Edward C. Kearney, Jr. had two children, Shirley Ann Ball who is married to John W. Ball. and John E. Kearney, Sr.. married to Sandra Lee Kearney. There are seven grandchildren, Kimberly Elizabeth Kearney, John E. Kearney Jr., Scott C. Haefele, Blakemore E. Kearney, Lori Anne Bahri, Jaclyn Susan Turner. and Brad A. Ball. She has 11 great grandchildren. Ann was the oldest of 10 children of whom three are still living. Juliet Mastry Miller and Marguerite Mastry Dawson. her sisters and her brother. Mike Mastry .The extended Mastry family consists of several hundred relatives still living in the Tampa Bay area. The Mastry family became part of the St. Petersburg community in the early 1900's. Ann was very active in civic and community affairs for over 50 years including the United Way Board of Directors, American Heart Association, St. Petersburg Art Museum~ Stuart Society, Women's Chamber of Commerce of the Gulf Beach (Chairman of the Board and President)~ Florida Suncoast Opera Guild (Chairman of the Board and President), Bayfront Medical Auxiliary, Bayfront Center Hostess, Beta Women's Club, Interlock Club, Centennial Committee, Sweet Adeline's (president), Al Kareem Club (Board of Directors)~ Member of Saint Matthews Church~ (Vestry and Deacon), President of Episcopal Church Women at Saint Matthews~ First Woman President of the Board of Realtors Associates Division, performed at the Little Theatre where she was a Charter Member, a Poll Worker for Elections, and she was a Princess on the Court for the Queen of Hearts in 1989. She was one of the early residents of the Bayfront Tower, she volunteered for the Sunshine Senior Center in her early 90's and was inducted into the St. Petersburg Hall Of Fame in 1998. Ann modeled regularly in fashion shows for many years for various charitable events in the area. She worked in the Christmas Toy Shop for many years. Ann took great pride in every committee she served on but in particular she was very proud to have served as President of the Episcopal Church Women of Saint Matthews Church, a Lay Reader, and Choir Member. Her energy was never ending and she dedicated her life to God, her family and serving the community.
