Obituary of Gary L. Mayfield

Gary L. Mayfield, 59, of St Petersburg, FL, passed away the morning of April 2, 2022. Born in Cape Girardeau, MO in 1962. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lindell and Ruth Mayfield, and his brother, Danny Mayfield. Gary is survived by his loving partner of 15 years, Christine Sterling, his brother, Kevin Mayfield (Phyllis), sister-in-law, Teressa Sitzes Mayfield, his son, Austin Mayfield, and nieces and nephews: Chris, Dustin, Amanda, Shayna and Jason. Gary was a talented chef and a huge foodie. He enjoyed spending his time going out to different restaurants with his partner, trying many of the local St Petersburg cuisines. Gary was also well known for his award winning chili recipe, competing in several of the Grand Central Chili Cook-offs that he enjoyed so much. He was also very athletic and for some time played semi-pro racquetball. Most of all, Gary loved the Florida life. He truly enjoyed boating and spending time on the water. Gary’s celebration of life will be held Friday, April 8, 2022 at 3pm at David C. Gross Funeral Home.
