Obituary of Dr. Martin R Bialow

Born in Boston, Mass., Dr. Bialow grew up in Newton, Mass.. He was the only son of Dr. Solomon Bialow and Edith Druker. After graduating from Newton High School in 1958, he attended undergraduate school at Harvard University in Boston, where he met his wife, Linda Gordon Bialow. They met on a blind date and the rest, as they say, is history. He loved playing his saxophone and marching in the Harvard band. 

Marty and Linda, who just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, relocated to Florida for Marty to attend graduate school at the University of Florida College of Medicine.

While studying and interning in Gainesville, he welcomed his first daughter, Elizabeth Bialow Magazine, Esq., (and became a proud Gator). He then moved the family with him to Brooklyn,  New York where he did his residency at Maimonides Hospital. After that, he moved to Chicago, where he served in the U.S. Public Health and welcomed his daughter, Jennifer Bialow Zeidler.

Fleeing the Chicago winters, he headed south, where he worked in St. Petersburg, Fla., and found the home where he wanted to settle down and raise his family in Belleair, Fla. He welcomed his son David Bialow and opened his private practice, specializing in cardiovascular disease and Internal Medicine. 

A trailblazer, he founded Pinellas County's first Cardiac Rehabilitation Center and later sold it to Morton Plant Hospital. He worked for the Suncoast Hospice palliative care group and brightened the lives of many during their times of sadness. More recently, he worked for the Bay Pines Veterans Administration Hospital as well as Meridien Research. His innovative approach to medicine revolutionized practices, positively impacting the lives of his countless patients. As a cardiologist, he always said, "I have to practice what I preach" and gave up his favorite cigars, walked daily and loved to swim laps in both his pool and the Gulf of Mexico. 

In his free time, he loved to sing and was passionate about his roles in community theater presentations, including "Guys and Dolls" and "Oliver Twist" with the Largo Community Theater. He also performed locally singing at his temple and as a Frank Sinatra singer. This singing career included performances as Joey Dee's opening act at the Clearwater Italian Fest and other gigs, including his temple chorus.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Bialow was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many through his kindness and unwavering support. 

Dr. Bialow's warmth and compassion extended far beyond the confines of the hospital. He was a devoted family man, cherishing his time with loved ones and making every moment count. Dr. Bialow's legacy of love and devotion will forever be cherished by his adoring family and friends. His love for his family was evident in every smile, every laugh, and every gesture of care. 

We will remember him as a brilliant healer, a visionary scientist, and a compassionate soul who dedicated his life to making a difference.

His best gig was being a husband to Linda, father to his three children, father-in-law to Leon Zeidler and James Magazine and "Papga" to his five grandchildren, Andrew Pekin, Jacob Pekin, Ashley Pekin, Jack Zeidler and Brandon Zeidler, who will always remember him as a magician with a Sinatra top hat singing his way through life.
