Obituary of Baldassano Peter Spoto

Bob Spoto passed away peacefully September 23, 2023 at the age of 90.

Born January 17th, 1933 to Peter and Jennie Spoto. With his parents

and sister Rose Spoto Buonaguro he spent his childhood in Chicago,

IL. He enlisted in the US Army in 1950 and served in Korea. He was

honorably discharged in 1953. He developed skills as a butcher which

served him well in his many entrepreneurial endeavors. From the

select meats and corned beef he sold from his car to his first Certified

Meat Market, a second Market, Bobo’s Hotdogs, and then to his pride

Certified Provisions, a wholesale meat company with seven over the

road trucks in four states serving the hospitality industry.

He moved to Florida with his family in 1972 where he developed

Spoto’s Stockyard Inn, Spoto’s of Clearwater, Spoto’s Bakery, Slickers

Pasta House, Petie’s Steak House, Spoto’s Super Club, Smokey’s

Texas BBQ, Spoto’s Steak Joint I & II and Spoto’s Grill 131. He was

well known in the community for his progressive ideas and passion for

food. He was active with the Florida Restaurant Association serving as

Vice President of Chapter 11, on the Board of Directors FRA and

Pinellas County Tourist Development Council.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years Katheryn, four children Peter,

Robert, Renata and Anthony, four step children Rebecca, Jennifer,

Pamela and Matthew, sixteen grandchildren, sixteen great

grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, sister, first wife
